Villas and Gardens
VILLA CARLOTTA AND TREMEZZO
Villa Carlotta, built at the end of 1600 in Tremezzo on the Lake of Como is famous for its botanic garden and the beautiful rooms full of paintings and statues of great authors. The parc is well known for the amazing spring flowering of azalea and rhododendron plants.
VILLA MELZI GARDENS IN BELLAGIO
In Bellagio, known as the gem of the Lake of Como, the Gardens of Villa Melzi are open from the end of March to October. The parc created by Luigi Villoresi, one of the main designer of landscape gardens, is full of exotic and rare plants, centenary trees and huge hedges of camellia, a small lake of water lily and a Moorish kiosk.
VILLA MONASTERO
In Varenna, another famous international destination at the Lake of Como, the Villa Monastero offers to visitors the museum house completely open to the public whose exibition itinerary consists of fourteen rooms and a botanic garden about two kilometers long, full of rare local and exotic plants.

BELLANO ORRIDO GORGE
The Orrido is a natural gorge whose origins go back to fifteen milions of years ago, over the river Pioverna in Bellano.
The visit is possible thanks to the boardwalks over cascades and the side rocks.
THE CASTLE OF VEZIO
The Castle of Vezio is located above Varenna; it was a military outpost used by the Lombard Queen Teodolina to defend and control the lake of Como and the sourroundings villages. It’s open from March to November and houses occasionally art exhibitions and a permanent exhibit of the marine reptile called Lariosauro.
THE MILITARY ESTABLISHMENT OF FORTE MONTECCHIO
The Forte Montecchio Nord is the best preserved First World War establishment in Europe and offers a stunning view over the lake and the Valtellina mountains.

SENTIERO DEL VIANDANTE
It’s the ancient trail between the Lake of Como and Switzerland; starting from Abbadia Lariana runs on half hill for 45 kilometers and ends in the village of Colico. Borgo Verginate is just on the path.
